FAQ: student card and new sticker

It’s the beginning of new semester or academic year semester, which means that soon it’s time to update the validity of your student card. This always raises questions, so we’ve put together answers to frequently asked questions here on our blog:

How long is academic year sticker 2021-2022 valid?

The validation sticker of the academic year (9/2021) is valid until the end of September 2022, if you are a student continuing your studies. The validation sticker of the autumn semester (01/2022) is valid until the end of the January 2022, if you are a student continuing your studies.

If you have already graduated, your student status has expired and student discounts are no longer available to you.

How do I update Pivo digital student card?

Pivo digital student card is automatically updated for the new semester or academic year, if you have enrolled for semester or academic year and paid the student union membership fee. You can pay the membership fee online; you can find the necessary instructions and links on our website.

How do I get a new sticker on my AMK student card?

If you want to update the validation sticker on your plastic student card, it will be possible on campus. HAMKO’s office is open at Hämeenlinna University Centre on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On other campuses, the validation sticker can be picked up from the local student association. You can get up-to-date information on local student associations services and opening hours by following their communication channels.

We encourage all our members to start using the Pivo digital student card. This way, you will have access to student benefits even if you won’t be able pick up a new sticker before on time.

How do I know if I have paid the membership fee?

When you log in to renew your membership, you will see the date until which your membership fee is valid in the box at the top of the form. If you wish, you can also contact us by e-mail hamko@hamko.fi.

How can I pay the membership fee?

We recommend renewing your membership online. Payment is made via Paytrail, so you can choose a card or online banking payment.

Please note that when logging in to the form, you must use the same format from your email address that you provided when you joined. So, if necessary, try both formats firstname.lastname@student.hamk.fi and firstname1234@student.hamk.fi.

Renewing membership is also possible at HAMKO’s office or at a local student association when picking up the academic year sticker. HAMKO’s office serves on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can get up-to-date information on local student associations services and opening hours by following their own communication channels. We will forward the information on HAMKO’s communication channels, too.

For new students:

If you have just joined HAMKO, first start using Pivo digital student card. As soon as your student card arrives from print, we will inform you by email. Remember to follow your HAMK student email.

Reminder: Enroll for the academic year!

If you haven’t yet enrolled for academic year, remember to do it by the end of August. Enroll in Pakki.
