The nomination period for The HAMK Person of the Year has now come to an end – and first of all, we want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated!
This year, we received a total of 127 responses, which is an amazing number. It shows that you truly see and appreciate the people around you – and want to recognize their efforts 💛
While reading through the nominations, one thing stood out very clearly: HAMK community is full of people who make everyday life better for others. Many responses highlighted qualities such as genuinely considering students, reliability, strong professional expertise, and engaging, inspiring teaching. Several nominees were described as individuals who meet others authentically, listen, and create space for everyone to be included.
These descriptions perfectly reflect what is best about the HAMK community: working together, supporting one another, and building an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. It’s wonderful to see how even small actions can make a big difference – a friendly encounter, a word of encouragement, or simply taking the time to help someone.
HAMKO’s board will carefully review all nominations and make the final selections. It won’t be an easy task, as there are so many great candidates – each with strong and meaningful justifications behind them.
The HAMK Person of the Year will be announced in early August, so stay tuned!
Once again, thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination. It may seem like a small act, but it carries real significance. Moments like this help build a stronger sense of community and remind us that people and their contributions are truly valued here.
