You are not alone – Student Wellbeing Services in HAMK

The last couple of weeks was the Wellness Event, and wellness has been in daily conversation during these exceptional times. The well-being of students is the key for the study time to go well and be rewarding.

Did you know that HAMK has several different services that support student well-being, the purpose of which is to support and promote the well-being of HAMK students? Student well-being experts implement and develop activities for students throughout HAMK. Specialists can also provide personal assistance and make an appointment.

A Student Counselling Psychologist, Special needs Teacher and Sports Services Coordinator in HAMK’s student wellbeing services

Maija Partanen works as a Student Counselling Psychologist. Maija can help with, t.ex. study difficulties, stress, coping, tension, time management, achievement or motivation problems. They can help you map out your situation and, if necessary, get guidance.

Maija has an open Zoom meeting on Fridays from 1 pm to 2 pm at the end the academic year.

Samu Toivonen works as a special needs teacher. Samu helps if you have difficulties in time management, for example, or need to find out about learning or reading difficulties. You can also get advice, for example, on study techniques or motivation.

“Special needs teachers’s services also work remotely, feel free to contact.”
-Samu Toivonen, Special Needs Teacher

The sports services coordinator is Jari Virtanen, and you can contact him in connection with HAMK’s exercise services, HAMK Moves. You can contact him in all matters related to exercise. Jari also provides guidance to increase physical learning ability.

Although the studying often takes place now at home or in front of the computer, we suggest you do some exercise during the day. Do a break workout designed by Jari:

Yes, I need help. What should I do?

Feel free to contact them, you don’t have to be left alone. Appointments for student welfare services are primarily made by e-mail. You can send an e-mail directly to the expert of your choice (firstname.lastname@hamk.fi) or if you do not know who to contact, you can send an e-mail to a common e-mail to opiskelijahyvinvointi@hamk.fi.

You can take a contact via chat service as well. The chat is on HAMK website and is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 pm to 3 pm.
