Standing for election in the Student Union of Häme University of Applied Sciences Representative Council election begins on Wednesday 17.9.2025 at 9:00 and ends on Monday 13.10.2025 at 12:00.
Representative Council oversees defining policies of student union
Representative Council is the highest decision-making body in the Student Union. The Representative Council oversees defining policies and it confirms, for example, the yearly action plan and the budget for the Student Union. The representative council also appoints student representatives to the university of applied sciences’ working groups and other institutions, and elects the board.
Official working language for the Representative Council is Finnish and decent form of understanding the language is advantage to applicants.
Members of HAMKO can stand as candidates for the Representative Council
In the Representative Council election, the 21 members of the Council are chosen for the term 2026. All members of the Student Union who have fulfilled their obligation* to the Student Union and are registered as present for the academic year 2025–2026 may stand for election.
Standing for election
The standing for election is done by an electronic form. The link to the form will be published to The Representative Council Election page as the standing for election begins.
You can stand for election either as an independent candidate or in an electoral alliance.
Candidates may form electoral alliances, which is done by filling an electronic form. An electoral alliance is a group of more than one candidate and the votes given to the alliance will be counted in favor of its members. One of the members of the electoral alliance must be authorized to work as the advocate for the alliance. The name of the alliance must be written in the alliance charter. The name of the alliance must not offend anyone’s personal rights and it cannot be a commercial/brand name or offensive in any other way. A candidate can stand for election in only one alliance.
Important dates of the elections
The Representative Council election is electronic, and the voting link will be sent to all members.
- Standing for election begins on Wed, 17.9.2025 at 09:00 a.m.
- The deadline for standing for election is Mon, 13.10.2025 at 12:00 (noon)
- Confirmation of candidacy of candidates Mon, 13.10.2025
- Appointing election officials no later than Mon, 20.10.2025
- List of persons entitled to vote is being confirmed Mon, 27.10.2025. All HAMK students who have fulfilled their membership obligations* by this time are entitled to vote in the representative council elections.
- The voting period will open on Fri, 3.11.2025 at 09:00 a.m.
- The voting period ends on Wed, 5.11.2025 at 4:00 p.m.
- Publication of the election results no later than Thu, 6.11.2025
The voting link for the electronic voting system will be sent to the Student Union member’s HAMK email address (@student.hamk.fi).
*Membership obligations refer to the following: You have paid your membership fee, your membership is valid and you have registered as an attending student at Häme University of Applied Sciences for the current semester.
