The Student Union of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMKO) selects the recipients of the “HAMK Person of the Year” award annually. The aim of this recognition is to highlight the high-quality work performed by HAMK staff for the benefit of students across the organization.
In the spring, we asked from you nominations for individuals at HAMK who emphasize the importance of higher education and encourage students, or who have otherwise distinguished themselves through excellent work. We received a large number of nominations—nearly 130—from all campuses.
The students’ propositions highlighted a desire to develop teaching, the use of diverse teaching methods, and the support provided to students.
A panel assembled by the Student Union board reviewed all nominations and made the selections based on them. The “HAMK Members of the Year” were honored at the HAMK staff day on August 6, 2026. Silja Nyberg, Chair of the Student Union board, presented the certificates of recognition to the recipients.
