New students will receive a separate key tag in the autumns of 2025 – existing students’ key cards will work as before.
What changes?
The key feature is no longer available for new student cards. Holders of new student cards will receive a separate key tag.
The change in key cards and tags mainly applies only to new students. The change only applies to older students if they did not have a key tag or a physical student card with a picture.
It was previously possible to load an key onto a physical student card, but the price of these cards increased significantly, which is why the card model had to be abandoned in order to prevent the price of the student card from increasing. Therefore, the new keys for students will only be available on a separate key tag in the future.
I have had a key, will it still work?
All old keys will work as is and you don’t need to do anything. If you already have a key feature on your student card, it will work as long as you are a current student at HAMK.
So if you have a key on either your physical student card or a key tag, it will still work. If you have an older student card with a picture but you haven’t activated the key feature in your card, you can activate the key feature on your card normally.
What is a key tag or a key feature?
A brief review of what a key card is. You need an access key, when you enter campuses when the doors are locked. You can also use the key to log in to HAMK’s multifunctional devices, e.g. when printing. The key card can be activated either on a separate key tag or on the blue-yellow AMK student card when you have joined HAMKO before summer 2025. Student cards issued before autumn 2025 all have a key feature that needs to be activated for use.
The key card must be activated using personal HAMK IDs and is personal.
Where can I get a key card?
Instructions for students regarding key cards can be found on the HAMK website on the Getting around on Campus page in this link.
