Good news for you, HAMK student! From May onward, you can join your own student union, HAMKO, at a lower price than before. You can join HAMKO without an automatic physical student card, which means a lower price for you.
What will change?
Previously, HAMKO membership automatically included both a digital and a physical student card. However, making a physical card brought additional costs to membership. The Student Union’s Representative Council has approved the Board’s proposal, which means that a physical card will no longer automatically come with membership, and joining will be cheaper.
The change has been the wish of many, as more and more students use only a digital student card in their everyday lives.
Digital card and benefits in the same app
HAMKO is partnered with Slice.fi, whose app lets you find a digital student card and a wealth of valuable student benefits. All conveniently on your phone.
Can I still get a physical student card?
✅ Yes, you can! You can order a physical card separately for 10 euros.
When will the change take effect?
From May 1st, 2026.

Why is HAMKO membership worth it?
You have an advocate. The student union monitors your interests and makes sure that the students’ voice is heard at HAMK. You will receive support if you encounter challenges in your studies, assessment or everyday life as a student.
Events and community. Parties, events, activities and things to do together – as a member, most often cheaper or even free.
Student discounts that really save you money. Transport, culture, restaurants, shops. Just a few benefits used are enough to cover the membership fee.
Opportunity to make an impact. You can apply to join the operating groups, representative council or even the board and help develop HAMK from the students’ perspective.
